METHOD OF OBTAINING AN IMPARTIAL RESULT OF A GAME VIA A COMMUNICATION NETWORK, AND RELATED PROTOCOLS AND PROGRAMS

The invention relates to an impartial method of obtaining the result of a game played over a communication network using related computing means and/or computer programs. The inventive method employs cryptographic protocols and processes which have been specially designed in order to ensure security and honesty in the playing of games of chance over a communication network and to enable said games to be subsequently audited. The aforementioned cryptographic protocols and processes allow the game to be played in an honest and auditable manner without the need for a trustworthy entity to manage the game. More specifically, the method consists in identifying the different elements of the game, sorting said elements, secretly assigning an arbitrary permutation of said elements to each player, applying a commitment protocol to said permutation, making the result of the commitment accessible and, finally, generating the result of the game using at least part of said secret permutations.
