The stamping process produces a rod (7) with a middle part (4) and side flanges (5). A stamped steel plate with a longitudinal central web and at least one end widening is subjected to repeated deep drawing with multiple swaging to produce the one-piece rod with bearing mountings at its end. The bearing mountings may be produced separately by piercing, punching and calibrating.
