The invention relates to a fragrance composition, comprising at least one ionic fluid as fixative and production and use thereof. Said fragrance compositions have the advantage that the volatilisation of the basic aromati c components can be adjustably delayed with the ionic fluid as a polar solvent which has almost no partial pressure. The large choice of ionic fluids permi ts a precise adjustment of the volatilisation rate of the aromatic components. As the polarity of the ionic fluid can be varied over wide ranges by means of t he structure of the cations and/or anions, the ionic fluid used as fixative can be precisely matched to the physico-chemical and/or olfactory requirements o f the aromatic components.
