<p>An anode stem (15) for conducting current to an electrochemically active anode body (11) of an aluminium electrowinning cell comprises a metal conductor (16) of low electrical resistivity covered with a ceramic coating (17) that protects the metal conductor against cell gases (6), in particular fluorides, oxygen and HF. The coating (17) is made predominantly of aluminium oxide and contains at least one ceramic compound of a metal selected from titanium, calcium, nickel, zirconium, zinc, iridium, ruthenium, magnesium, barium, lanthanum and yttrium, in particular oxides and fluorides thereof. The metal conductor can be made of nickel, iron or alloys thereof, or other metals.</p> |
