The invention relates to process for measuring skin ashing using a cross-polarized imaging method; in particular a process for measuring skin ashing comprising selecting a desired area of skin to be tested for skin ashing, acquiring an image of the desired area with an image capturing device using a x-polarization technique to acquire the image, and analyzing the acquired image to determine ashing.
