The shock absorber unit for a railway goods wagon has a shock absorber (2) and damper plate (1) forming a module which is detachably fastened on brackets (6) in the chassis (10). The shock absorber bears upon the damper plate at least by its damper pistons (3) constructed on both ends. A locking element is detachably fastened on each side of the damper piston at the bottom and grips round the upper flange of the damper plate. An independent claim is included for an arrangement whereby the fitting and removing of the module consisting of a shock absorber and damper plate can be carried out in the chassis preferably from the bottom.
