摘要 PURPOSE: Provided are a method and a device for controlling SiO2 soot particles to be deposited in an OVD process, which inhibit cracking, snowball formation and incomplete vitrification in optical fiber preforms and reduce the time needed to produce optical fiber preforms. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of measuring the outer diameter of a preform continuously and controlling the trace speed of one point of the preform surface according to the change of the outer diameter, so that the deposition density of the soot particles on the preform is maintained constantly regardless of the outer diameter or is increased in the direction of the outer diameter. Additionally, the device comprises a rod(10) for depositing the preform(11); a burner(32) for supplying a fuel gas and oxygen gas for deposition; a rotation member(40) for rotating the preform(11); a member(41) for transferring the burner horizontally; a flow controller(30) for controlling the flow rates of the fuel gas and oxygen gas; a sensor(20) for measuring the outer diameter of the preform; and a process controller(50) for maintaining or increasing the deposition density of the soot particles.
