Equipment controlling operational behavior of vehicle, reverts to exceptional operational state when required, without excluding further travel

A data module (1) accepts data from a location external to the vehicle. A parameter measurement unit (2) is activated after changing over a sub-assembly or functional unit from standard operation to an exceptional operating state, of limited functional capability, whilst not completely excluding further travel. A control unit (5) prepares the sub assembly or functional unit in the exceptional operational state from the data module and transmits further information. This enables program selection or program matching in the control unit (5), for control and optimization of the exceptional operational state.
