PURPOSE: A system and a method for editing remote control signals in a remote controller is provided to connect a remote controller to a computer having a remote control signal editing program and to selectively input remote control signals, necessary for various electronic products, to the remote controller through the computer. CONSTITUTION: A user selects a desired electronic appliance through a computer and searches for a directory in which the remote control signals of the electronic appliance are stored by functions. The user selects a file and appoints a button of a remote controller for the selected file. The user determines whether it is necessary to add another operation function to the appointed button. In case that a new operation function is not required, the user clicks on the confirmation button and completes the button appointment operation. Then the user clicks a button to download the remote control signal of the appointed button to the remote controller. At this moment, the computer judges whether the remote controller is connected with the computer.
