PURPOSE: A method for diagnosing the breakdown of an oil-temperature sensor of an automatic transmission of a vehicle is provided to perform a breakdown diagnosing function if the temperature of oil is fixed to a specific temperature within an operation range of the oil-temperature sensor. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing the breakdown of an oil-temperature sensor of an automatic transmission of a vehicle is composed of steps of judging if the voltage of an electric system is over 9Vand if an engine control unit and communication are normal and a speed sensor is normally operated(S100,S110); judging if the initial temperature of the oil-temperature sensor in starting the engine is within -40¯20 deg.C and if the RPM(Revolution per Minute) of an engine is over 500 RPM(S120,S130); judging if the cumulative time is over 500sec when the speed is over 20 km/h and if the temperature change of coolant is over 50 deg.C and the present temperature of coolant is over 70 deg.C; completing the process if not satisfying any one of the former steps(S140,S160); and performing a forward filtering for 10 seconds if the temperature change of oil is below a reference value, sending a warning signal to a warning mechanism by deciding that the oil-temperature sensor is broken down, deciding that the oil-temperature sensor is not broken down if the temperature change of oil is over the reference value, and finishing the process(S170,S180,S190,S200).
