PURPOSE: A cap assembly of a reservoir tank for an automobile is provided to separate the cap freely from a reservoir tank filler opening when one checks the amount of contents of the reservoir tank and restrains the cap by the end of the filler opening when the cap is not used. CONSTITUTION: The cap assembly comprises: a cap housing(10) rotatably installed to the upper end of a filler opening and provided at the central part with a perforated section(12) perforated with a predetermined diameter, the perforated section(12) provided around the inner circumference with a guide part(13) having a predetermined thickness, the guide provided with a recess(14); and a cap(20) having such a diameter to be inserted into the perforated section(12) of the cap housing(10) and provided on the outer circumferential surface with a guide projection(21) movable along the guide part(13) and coming and going out through the recess(14) and on the bottom surface with a gauge(22) for measuring the height of the water surface(oil level).
