发明名称 Method of making steel and apparatus for charging steel making furnaces
摘要
886,514. Charging steel-making furnaces. CALDERON AUTOMATION Inc. May 13, 1959 [May 23, 1958], No. 16343/59. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for charging an open hearth steelmaking furnace 1 comprises a charging car 5 carrying bulk supplies of scrap, ore and limestone and running on rails 3, 4, and a carriage 8 running parallel to the car 5 on rails 6, 7 and having thereupon a conventional ram-charging machine 66 and a rotary jib crane 65 respectively running on transverse rails 96, 97 and 94, 95. The charging car 5 has an end hopper 11 with inclined guide members 38 and 39 given a conical and oppositely directed configuration and respectively combined with triangular flat surfaces 45 and 46, said guide members acting as orienting surfaces deflecting lengthy pieces of scrap longitudinally through the gap 40 into a charging box 36 disposed below. Charging car 5 also has a large hopper 10 loaded with scrap. Charging machine 66 is used in the manner described below to charge the furnace using the single box 36. In a modification, Fig. 12 (not shown), the inclined surfaces 38, 39 are flap doors pivoted about their longitudinal edges and opened by a system of co-acting levers. The rotary jib crane 65 (see Group XXX) is arranged so that, as the crane moves forwardly, the boom 132 swings through an arc guided by a roller 131 in a cam guide 103. This results in the electromagnet 139 describing a straight line path over the hopper 10 to the hopper 11. The drive 112 for the carriage 104 and the drive 145 for jib slewing incorporate fluid couplings to allow for relative variations arising from the straight line path of the electromagnet. Upward movement of the electromagnet is controlled by a limit switch 140 on the end of the boom and downward movement by a relay on the drive control which functions when the electromagnet rests on the scrap. In operation, two charging cars are located in front of the furnace, the first having limestone in hopper 11 and scrap in hopper 10 and the second having ore in hopper 11 and scrap in hopper 10. Successive loads of limestone are dumped into charging box 36 and then transferred to the furnace until the first hopper 11 is empty, whereupon successive loads of scrap are also dumped by the jib crane over the partly-opened orienting doors 38, 39 into said box until the first hopper 10 is empty. The process is then repeated with ore and scrap from the second charging car. The orienting hopper 11 is shown mounted singly on a carriage for movement over a train of wagons carrying charging boxes, Figs. 9-11 (not shown).
