Process for the catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide (N2O)

Catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide involves subdividing a gas flow (1) containing nitrous oxide into at least two gaseous flows (1A) and 1B), where the gaseous flow (1A) is made to flow through a first catalytic bed. The off flow gas from the first catalytic bed is mixed with the second flow (IB). The gaseous mixture thus obtained is made to pass through a second catalytic bed situated downstream of the first catalytic bed.
