PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling temperature of oil of an oil pan using exhaust gas are provided to increase temperature of oil by guiding some of exhaust gas to the oil pan and allowing exhaust gas and oil in the oil pan to exchange heat with each other for improvement of performance of oil right after starting of an engine. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus includes an oil heater(30) having an inlet pipe(31) formed on one end thereof and connected to a rear side of a turbo charger(25), an outlet pipe(32) formed on the other end thereof and connected to an exhaust pipe(27), having the middle placed in an oil pan(23) zigzag, and formed with metal pipe to allow exhaust gas to pass therein; a valve(33) controlling exhaust gas passing the turbo charger to selectively flow into the oil heater; an actuator(34) controlling the valve; and a bi-metal switch(37) sensing temperature of oil in the oil pan. The oil heater circulates some of exhaust gas passing the turbo charger to transfer heat of exhaust gas to an inside of the oil pan so as to heat oil.
