A module 92, adapted to be fitted to electronic equipment, includes telecommunication apparatus 94 which is adapted to establish a call to a predetermined telephone number via a cellular telephone network if the equipment is turned on, or is used without entry of a particular password, or if the module is removed from the equipment. The apparatus 94 incorporates a detector to form a combined detector-transceiver for placement in a position in which the detector responds to a change to establish the call to the predetermined number. The apparatus can transmit an alarm message when the dialled number answers, or store information.
