GAMMA CORRECTION APPARATUS FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING DIFFERENT GAMMA CURVES FOR DIFFERENT COLORS

PURPOSE: A gamma correction apparatus for a liquid crystal display is provided to maximize a gamma characteristic by performing a gamma correction according to gamma curves different to each other for different colors. CONSTITUTION: A gamma correction apparatus for a liquid crystal display outputs a pixel voltage corresponding to a pixel signal. The liquid crystal display displays multiple colors. The gamma correction apparatus includes a grayscale voltage generating circuit(500) with a common grayscale voltage generating circuit(502) and a respective grayscale voltage generating circuit(504) and a gamma correction circuit. The respective grayscale voltage generating circuit is connected to the common grayscale voltage generating circuit and generates a plurality of respective grayscale voltages corresponding to one of colors. A voltage value of the respective grayscale voltage is determined according to the color to which the respective grayscale voltage generating circuit corresponds. The gamma correction circuit is connected with the grayscale voltage generating circuit and selectively uses the common grayscale voltage and the corresponding respective grayscale voltage in order to determine the corresponding pixel voltage and outputs the corresponding pixel voltage.
