PURPOSE: An MP3 player, an MP3 data providing server and playing method are provided to play an MP3 file by using an MP3 player or a PC of only a certified user. CONSTITUTION: The player comprises an MP3 decoder(58), a DA converter(59), a security module(52), a controller(51), a storage(54), and an IO device(56). The MP3 decoder(58) decodes an MP3 file, and converts the decoded MP3 file into digital music data. The DA converter(59) converts the digital music data into analog music data. The security module(52) decodes an encoded MP3 file, downloaded from an MP3 file providing server, with a security key. The controller(51) performs basic operations of an MP3 player, and instructs a decoding operation to the security module(52). The storage(54) stores encoded and decoded MP3 files. The IO device(56) includes a PC interface for receiving or transmitting data from or to the PC, and a mobile phone interface for receiving or transmitting data from or to the mobile phone.
