C/SiC-composites and a process for producing holes in the same

Process for inserting holes into a carbon/silicon carbide composite body comprises filling a molding tool (14) with a composition containing carbon fibers (4), molding the composition into a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic body, carbonizing the body to form a carbon/carbon preform, and reaction-infiltrating the preform to form a carbon/silicon carbide body. The holes are preformed during and/or after filling the molding tool with the composition. An Independent claim is also included for a carbon/silicon carbide composite body produced by the above process.
