Frequency diversity method in mobile television reception

The arrangement includes an additional receiver and an evaluation circuit which continuously searches while moving for all radiated frequencies of a set programme and switches the main receiver to the frequency with the best signal quality. An existing sender identifier which is added to the information signal for other purposes is used as a criterion for finding the alternative frequencies. The information signals of the alternative frequencies are compared and evaluation with the set program information signal. Additionally, local location coordinates are processed to limit the frequency evaluation to areas. The control pulse which switches the main receiver to another frequency is simultaneously used for switching the information signal path between the main and the additional receiver. The information signal is transmitted to the additional receiver during the gap produced by the transient of the main receiver. Thresholds for the signal quality are set so that the evaluation and control circuit avoids the switching between frequencies when signals with similar signal qualities are provided.
