An edible transfer tattoo comprises image printed starch based substrate having (wt.%) xanthan gum (up to 2.5, preferably 0.695, especially 0.302), rapeseed oil (5-15, 9.266, especially 4.023), modified starch (up to 6, 0.486, especially 0.503) and lecithin (up to 3.5, 0.510, especially 0.402). An independent claim is included for the preparation of an edible transfer tattoo involving forming a starch based substrate by (wt.%) (ia) blending a dry mixture of maize starch (10-20), microcrystalline cellulose (up to 11), gum acacia (1-17), modified starch (up to 6), xanthan (up to 2.5) and potassium sorbate (up to 0.4); (ib) blending a mixture of water (28-52), glycerin (up to 10), polysorbate 60 (up to 4.5), sorbitol (up to 15), vanilla flavoring (up to 0.2) and titanium dioxide (up to 0.4); (ic) heating a fatty phase mixture of rapeseed oil (up to 15) and lecithin (up to 3.5); (id) dispersing the heated mixture of rapeseed oil and lecithin in the premixed liquid ingredients using a high shear mixer to form an mixture; (ie) blending the premixed dry ingredients with the mixed liquid and fatty phase ingredients; (if) forming a sheet of substrate material; (ig) printing images on the substrate material; and (ih) cutting and snagging the sheet of substrate material to facilitate the ready separation of an edible transfer tattoo from the sheet of substrate material. |
