A DSP (7) and a controller (9) determine the received signal intensity for each time slot. When an average value of the intensity is abnormal, an average of averages of received signal intensities in a frame is calculated. A gain control signal generated based on the calculated average is fed back to an automatic gain control circuit (3) to control received signal intensity at predetermined level. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an automatic gain control method; and (2) a radio communication device.
