PURPOSE: A method for transmitting a short message in a busy state is provided to retrieve a telephone directory if a telephone number for a specific party is requested from other party in a busy state, and to transmit a retrieved telephone number in a short message type, thereby transmitting telephone numbers of the telephone directory between an originator and a receiver by using short messages. CONSTITUTION: A system stores telephone numbers of optional users in a telephone directory mounted on an originating mobile terminal. The system decides whether a user retrieves the telephone directory when a user of a receiving mobile terminal requests a telephone number for specific party in a busy state. If so, an exchange connects the originating mobile terminal with a short message center, and the originating terminal decides whether an optional telephone number is selected as displaying a telephone number list. If the optional telephone number is selected and a send key is inputted, the originating mobile terminal transmits the corresponding telephone number to the short message center, in order to transmit the telephone number to the receiving mobile terminal in the busy state. |
