PURPOSE: A method for providing a short message service using a GPS function and a mobile phone for implementing the same are provided to supply relevant scenic spot and specialty information through a short message according to the location of a user using a mobile phone having a GPS function. CONSTITUTION: An information provider server traces and stores the present location of a mobile phone using a GPS system(S300). The mobile phone, in an idle state, confirms whether the present location is changed by the user(S310). If the present location has been changed, the mobile phone creates location information, based on the present location, and transmits it to the information provider server(S320). The information provider server receives the present location information of the mobile phone and catches the location of the mobile phone(S330). The information provider server confirms an associated district from the location of the mobile phone using a database(S340). The information provider server detects information for a scenic spot located around the associated district and specialties of the district from a tourist information database and provides it to the mobile phone in the form of a short message(S350). |
