928,896. Hooks. J. D. C. HENRY. Aug. 2, 1960 [Sept. 1, 1959], No. 26802/60. Class 89 (2). A hoisting hook comprises a strap 1 which pivotally supports a hook 8 having a counterweight 12 integral therewith, on a pin 2. A pin 6 in the strap engages a radiused corner 14 in the hook when the hook is unloaded and is moved to its open position by the counterweight, and slots 10, 15 in the hook engage pins 6, 7, in the strap to hold the hook in its closed position when the latter is loaded. The counterweight 12 may be replaced by a spring secured to the upper portion of the strap, and to the hook, to urge the hook into its open position. |
