PURPOSE: A method for managing metadata is provided to make a server effectively authenticate the transmitted metadata and make a client effectively authenticate the received metadata. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of fragment data is generated by dividing the transmitting metadata into a segment unit(610). A specified fragment data is selected from the generated fragment data(620). The metadata related information is generated from the selected fragment data(630). The selected fragment data and the generated metadata related information are transmitted together with the data format information representing a type of the fragment data used for generating the metadata related information(640).
