PURPOSE: A device for locking a battery of a tape recorder is provided to smoothly operate a locking knob by minimizing friction between peripheral parts in operating the locking knob. CONSTITUTION: A locking knob(51) is installed in a main body(30) to move between a first position and a second position, and restricts separation of a battery at the first position. Springs(53) elastically pressurize the locking knob to the first position. A cover bracket(55) is installed in the main body for preventing separation of the battery while guiding the movement of the locking knob, and supports elastic force of the springs. The locking knob includes a knob panel partially appearing from and disappearing in an operation hole(31c), and a knob protrusion(51b) protruded from the knob panel, and an operation protrusion(51c) pressed by the springs. The knob panel moves between a guide panel part and a front wall without friction.
