Material, made from non-woven filaments and having a ratio of its machine direction strength to its transverse strength of under 1.5 : 1 and preferably under 1.1 : 1, has a density of under 0.10 g/cc, and preferably 0.07-0.03 g/cc, with filaments having a yarn count of 0.9 - 19 dtex. The tensile strength index of the material in the machine direction is at least 1.5, and in the transverse direction at least 1.3, and its GSM weight is 12-30.
