The device (1) has a display screen (1-1), an electronic microprocessor card and a reader for reading a digital image (1-2). Direct access commands of a human-machine interface (1-3) enable to view previous or next image and modify contrast or enlarge/reduce the viewed image. A pointing device (1-4) enables a selection of zone to be enlarged. A direct command permits the device to be used as a luminous box to view an X-ray film negative.
