The digital distribution method scrambles the original audio file, transmits the scrambled file and uses the audio player to descramble the audio file to provide audio output from the player. The reconstruction of the original file is adaptive and progressive, and is based on a digital profile of the authorized user, part of which has been previously transmitted to the user's player.
