The container (1) for a stick product that is extended and retracted via a top opening (22) by means of a screw (42), piston (5) and a knurled wheel (6) in its base has the product held in a separate inner sleeve (7) that can have a different cross-sectional shape to the container's outer wall (8). The inner sleeve and outer wall are both less than 2 mm thick and suitable for high rates of manufacture, while interacting surfaces provide a rigid assembly.
