A fastener has a base plate on which a stock-rail foot sits, a slide chair fixed to the base plate and having an overhang overreaching an edge of the flange, an abutment bump projecting downward from the overhang, a passage opening adjacent and above the flange underneath the overhang, and a flat upper surface. A retaining element engaged in the passage and bearing downward on the flange edge is engageable with the bump.
