Ignition device for an internal combustion engine, incorporating a precombustion chamber separated from the main combustion chamber by a head incorporating some passages

An ignition device for an internal combustion engine comprises a main combustion chamber (1) fitted with a compression system and an ignitor (11) incorporating a precombustion chamber (2) and an ignition system (13, 14). The precombustion chamber is defined by a precombustion chamber body (12) having a head (12a) incorporating some passages (15). The head separates the precombustion chamber from the main chamber and puts the two chamber in communication via the passages. The passages include at least one passage allowing the propagation of a flame front from the precombustion chamber to the main chamber whilst the engine functions with a low load and at least one passage not allowing the propagation of a flame front whilst allowing the passages of unstable compounds from the precombustion chamber to the main chamber. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method for the ignition of an internal combustion engine using this device; and (b) an ignitor for an internal combustion engine.
