The speed detection system uses a group of strips placed on the road surface or embedded in the surface to detect passage of a vehicle. Vibration detectors are particularly suitable. The detectors are connected to an electronic device that emits a coded signal representing vehicle speed. The speed can be displayed or sent to a receiver in the vehicle which can activate an alarm.
