PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer lighting device which reduces leakage of light between a pointer and an indication plate, and prevents lowering of the luminance of the pointer. SOLUTION: The pointer 1 is provided with a translucent body 10, which has light guiding-in sections 13 in its rotation center area R, and a light shielding cover 11 which covers the area R of this pointer body 10. This lighting device is provided with an indication plate 2, light sources 3, a collar member 4, and a coating member 12. The indication plate 2 is arranged behind this pointer 1 with a predetermined distance in between and has a translucent section 21 at a corresponding part to the sections 13. The light sources 3 are located on the rear face side of this indication plate 2, and illuminate the pointer 1, by supplying an illumination light to the sections 13 of the pointer 1. The collar member 4 has a cylindrical light-shielding wall portion 41, which is located between the pointer 1 and the indication plate 2 and is fixed to the indication plate 2, covers the rim of the translucent section 21 of the indication plate 2, and extends towards the shielding cover 11 side. The coating member 12 has a lighting section 16, which covers the area R from its back and makes illumination light from the light sources 3 pass to the sections 13, and a wall-like light-shielding section 17 extending towards its inside along the wall portion 41.
