PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate confirmation of fuel remaining quantity even in the case of a fuel tank which is vertically long. SOLUTION: In a fuel tank 11 of vertically long shape, a rod 12 is arranged in the longitudinal direction, and wire 13 which is electrically a good conductor and a resistance wire 14, which is an electrical resistance member are arranged almost in parallel along the longitudinal direction of the rod 12. A float 15 is attached to the rod 12 so as to slide vertically. A shorting member, which short-circuits electrically the wire 13 and the resistance wire 14, is installed in the float 15. Accompanying the increase or decrease of the remaining quantity inside the tank 11, the float 15 moves vertically by floating and sinking. Shorting position of the wire 13 and the resistance wire 14 moves, and the resistance between the wire 13 and the resistance wire 14 changes, so that the change in the current is generated and change in fuel remaining quantity can be displayed accurately with the indication of a fuel meter 18.
