PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process optimizing operation parameters about a time element related to engine operation in an automobile so as to simultaneously attain the suitable efficiency of an exhaust emission control system and suitable fuel consumption.

SOLUTION: The automotive engine operation method includes a step collecting vehicular traveling condition parameters of an engine and/or an automobile during a specified period and deciding the vehicular traveling condition parameter, a step deciding the probability of the parameter about future operation of the engine on the basis of the decided traveling condition parameter, and a step adjusting an engine operating parameter by the decided probability value about the parameter.
