PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide various transition effects to consecutive reproduction of still pictures with an information amount little to the utmost. SOLUTION: An information recording medium stores information denoting transition effects in consecutive reproduction of a plurality of still picture information items together with the plurality of still picture information items. Transitions between still pictures consecutively reproduced attain cross transition wherein end of display of one still picture and start of display of a succeeding still picture are performed in parallel at the same time in addition to a normal transition wherein display of the succeeding still picture is started after the display of the one still picture is finished. In the case of consecutive reproduction of the still picture information, each still picture is reproduced so as to play the transition effects at switching of the still pictures by referencing the transition effect information recorded in cross-reference with each still picture set.
