PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile chuck device for a pile driver in which a pile head need not be worked and the pile head can be dropped and connected to an auger driving shaft as it is. SOLUTION: The pile chuck device for the pile driver has an outer member 6 connected to the auger driving shaft 4, an inner member 7 having a chuck hole 8, in which the head of a pile 5 is inserted, and rotatably fitted to the outer member 6 in a freely vertically movable manner and a plurality of pile head gripping pieces 9 freely retractably moved in the radial direction relative to the chuck hole 8 by the vertical movement of the inner member 7 to the outer member 6. An engaging projecting piece 13 is installed to the inner member 7, a rotary preventive groove 14 and a locking groove 15 preventing relative rotations of both the members 6 and 7 are connected continuously to the outer member 6, and the pile head gripping pieces 9 are penetrated into the chuck hole 8 and the head outer peripheral surface of the pile 5 is gripped by inserting the head of the pile 5 and vertically moving the inner member 7.
