PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer enabling high quality printing preventing dust and the like from invading into a printing part, by storing a platen roller and a driving source in the same frame and eliminating an open part. SOLUTION: The thermal printer 1 has a first frame 2 which supports the platen roller 4 and a driving source (not illustrated) for rotary driving the platen roller 4, and a second frame 3 where a thermal head 10 is mounted. The thermal printer 1 has a body case (not illustrated) where the first and the second frames 2 and 3 are set.
