PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a liquid ejecting unit while ensuring the position being capped with a suction means. SOLUTION: The liquid ejection head comprises a liquid ejecting unit provided with a nozzle plate 13 having a plurality of nozzle holes 14 for ejecting liquid drops, a plate 21 for supporting the liquid ejecting unit while sealing the gap between the nozzle plate 13 and the supporting plate 21 with a sealing means 22, and a means for sucking the nozzle holes 14 with negative pressure while capping the supporting plate 21 to surround the nozzle plate 13.
