PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid container material made of paper having the barrier properties against oxygen or steam due to a liquid crystal polyester and necessary strength not damaging barrier properties against oxygen or steam possessed by the liquid crystal polyester, and a liquid container made of paper. SOLUTION: The liquid container material 1 made of paper is produced by laminating thermoplastic resin layers 2 on the upper and rear surfaces of a cardboard layer 3 becoming a substrate and has at least one liquid crystal polyester layer 9 and the biaxially stretched thermoplastic resin layer 7 laminated to the liquid crystal polyester layer directly or through an adhesive layer.
