PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share a voice output device between a speaker mode and a receiver mode of portable radio communication equipment and to make a voice to be caught more easily by making an output frequency characteristic in each mode variable. SOLUTION: A frequency characteristic switching means 14 that can variably control frequency characteristics is provided on the previous stage of the voice output device 15. Further, the switching means 14 is controlled so as to be able to obtain voice output frequency characteristic that makes voice to be caught easily in each mode in accordance with which mode a communication mode determination signal M indicates between the speaker/receiver modes. A user uses the common voice output device in both modes being the receiver mode in which the user puts a receiver part on an ear to listen to voice and the speaker mode in which the user outputs loud voice from the receiver part and listens with the ear away from the receiver part. This can bring about miniaturization, space saving and low cost in radio equipment. In addition, a frequency characteristic suitable to the respective modes can be set by changing frequency characteristics of a voice output part in one of the speaker mode and the receiver mode or in the both.
