PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cleaner which can efficiently perform cleaning of a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: A tape cleaner part 40 is provided with a cleaning tape CT for wiping out dirt adhered to the surface of a tape, and it is constituted so that the dirt adhered to the surface of the tape is wiped out by pressing the cleaning tape CT to the surface of a running tape. Then, in the cleaning tape CT, the weft consisting of super-fine fiber is exposed to the outside more than the warp, and the weft is arranged vertically to the running direction of the tape. The dirt which is adhered to the surface of the tape and is transported is scraped off by the weft and dirt can be efficiently removed by this constitution. Also, since the weft is exposed to the outside more than the warp, the weft is brought into contact with the surface of the tape exactly, and the dirt can be efficiently removed.
