PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain recording quality by controlling the rotational speed of a disk in accordance with an eccentric amount, a surface wobbling amount and a detracking amount intrinsic to a disk. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical recording device is provided with a spindle motor 11 as a rotary-driving means for rotary-driving a magneto-optical disk 50, an optical pickup 12 as a data writing means for recording data on the magneto-optical disk 50, and a DSP microcomputer 21 as a control means for controlling each means. Further, the DSP microcomputer 21 functions as a detracking amount measuring means for measuring a detracking amount when the magneto-optical disk 50 is rotary-driven at a high linear velocity, a surface wobbling amount measuring means for measuring a surface wobbling amount, and an eccentric amount measuring means for measuring an eccentric amount. When one of the detracking amount, the surface wobbling amount and the eccentric amount exceeds a predetermined threshold, the control means controls the rotary-driving of the spindle motor 11, and switches the linear velocity of the magneto-optical disk 50 from the high linear velocity to a low linear velocity.
