PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite column member facilitating the attachment and detachment of an outer body to and from the periphery of a core column body. SOLUTION: This composite column member is composed of the core column body 10 extending in a longitudinal direction; an elastic frame body 20 of approximately U-shaped cross section detachably attached to the core column body 10 from the direction of a front side face 11 and covering a front side face 11 and both lateral side faces 12 of the core column body 10; the outer body 30 covering the surface of the frame body 20; and an engaging means comprising a plurality of engaging grooves 17 bored in the respective lateral side faces 12 of the core column body 10, and a plurality of engaging projections 21 springily projected on the inner side face of the frame body 20 corresponding to the respective engaging grooves 17 of the core column body 10. Following the attachment of the frame body 20 to the core column body 10 from the direction of the front side face 11, each engaging projection 21 of the frame body 20 is compressed and fitted in a springily attachable/detachable manner into each corresponding engaging groove 17 of the core column body 10.
