PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic lock device which is used for locking the door of a gate, an automobile or the like and for which an arbitrary key can be used as an unlocking key by selecting the arbitrary key from ordinarily carried keys. SOLUTION: The image of the key 10 is projected on a picture scanning surface 111 by projecting light from a light-emitting element 112 to the key 10 held by a key-thickness holding mechanism 113 and a key-width holding mechanism 114. The image of the key 10 by a picture extracting section 110 is converted into picture date, and the obtained picture data are collated with picture data previously stored as authentication data by an unlocking decision section 12 and the the acceptance or rejection of unlocking is decided.
