PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid wire for gas shielded arc welding which has a low sensitivity to high temperature cracking, an excellent mechanical properties of weld metal and a superior welding workability, even when welding a heavy plate and a plate with a narrow gap groove at a high heat input/ high interpass temperature. SOLUTION: Chemical components of the Cu plated solid wire are C:0.01-0.07%, Si:0.50-1.00%, Mn:1.75-2.30%, Ti:0.13-0.28%, Mo:0.05-0.45%, P:≤0.02%, total Cu including Cu plated layer and Cu in the core wire:≤0.33%, Cu in the plated layer:≥0.10%, total S including S adherent to the core wire surface:0.003-0.020%, total S adherent to the core wire surface and buried in the surface layer of the core wire within 50μm from the surface:≥0.03g/wire of 10kg, B:≤0.0009%, As+Sb+Sn:≤0.01%.
