A method for reducing the particle size of granular material has the material flowed into a vertical tube to form a slug which is propelled onto the underside of a perforated impact plate using pneumatic pulses. Side openings in one or more propulsion tubes are hopper fed with the material. The reduced particles are blown through the perforations, and into a collecting chamber, by the positive pneumatic pressure in the equipment. No moving components are required and the particle size is altered by selecting the appropriate impact plate. |
