NOVEL MACROPHAGE FOAM CELL FORMATION INHIBITOR FKA-25 AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A novel macrophage foam cell formation inhibitor FKA-25 which is a substance inhibiting the formation of mouse-origin macrophage foam cells. Pseudobotrytis sp. FKA-25, which is a strain belonging to the genus Pseudobotrytis and capable of producing FKA-25, is cultured in a medium to accumulate FKA-25 in the culture medium and then the FKA-25 is collected from the culture medium. Because of specifically inhibiting the formation of mouse-origin macrophage foam cells, the thus obtained FKA-25 is expected as being useful in preventing and treating arteriosclerosis and diseases caused thereby.
