<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black ink for ink jet recording which yields an image excellent in durability including image quality and causes little blur around fine lines or pixels in a recorded image. <P>SOLUTION: The black ink for ink jet recording is obtained by dissolving and/or dispersing at least one black azo dye having a specific property or structure in an aqueous medium.
